Sarah Nelson

Associate General Counsel

Sarah Nelson joined the Office of the General Counsel in July 2018. Her practice focuses on health law and medical education matters in the University of Arizona Health Sciences and on litigation strategy and management.

Prior to joining the University, Ms. Nelson worked in private practice as an associate at a Chicago based firm, where she concentrated on medical malpractice, long-term care, and railroad defense through all stages of litigation. Additionally, she advised healthcare providers on various health law matters, including patient privacy and consent. Subsequently, she worked in-house at a hospital in the Chicagoland area in the Office of Legal Affairs. She focused on an array of regulatory and health law matters, as well as litigation strategy and management for the hospital’s professional and general liability programs.

Ms. Nelson is a graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder (B.A. in Classics, 2008, magna cum laude) and the Chicago-Kent College of Law (J.D., 2013). She is admitted to the State Bars in Arizona and Illinois and the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois.
