David D. Buechel
David D. Buechel joined the Office of General Counsel in December 2024. His practice focuses on general matters in higher education, with a focus on public records and general business matters.
Mr. Buechel previously practiced at the Hollingsworth Kelly law firm in Tucson, Arizona, where he handled wrongful death, serious injury, medical malpractice, and other tort cases at all stages of civil litigation, including discovery, arbitration, mediation, trial, special action, and appeal. Before his time as a litigator, Mr. Buechel clerked for the Honorable Peter J. Eckerstrom at the Arizona Court of Appeals, Division Two, handling appeals covering a broad range of civil and criminal matters that involved both private parties and public entities.
Mr. Buechel earned his J.D. from the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law in 2007 (magna cum laude) and his B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Arizona in 2003 (summa cum laude). He is admitted to the State Bar of Arizona, the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona, and a member of the National Association of College and University Attorneys (NACUA).
